AsriyyaMUN
About Us
AsriyyaMUN is a relative baby in terms of the number of years since first being established, which was just 4 short years ago. However, in terms of experience, excellence and dedication, it is on a par with those chapters that were established many years before. Our students attend 7 local conferences and at least 2 international conferences every year; each building on the experience and practice that they undertake through their weekly training sessions.
Holding its first MUN conference in 2012 under the patronage of H.R.H. Princess Rym Ali, AsriyyaMUN hosted 150 students from 8 local schools. Last year, just 2 years later, AsriyyaMUN had grown to 300 students from 12 local schools and fully expect 2015, to be our best year yet.
AsriyyaMUN is also proud to be a founding member of the new Majlis Al Arab initiative, along with Amman Baccalaureate School, International Academy of Amman and King’s Academy, which aims to bring an experience, similar in structure to MUN, to students from all sections of the educational system in Amman, exclusively in Arabic.
As part of membership in AsriyyaMUN, our students are committed to working with the Talbiyeh Refugee Camp, one of the oldest refugee camps in the country and certainly one of the most ‘needy’. Each year, AsriyyaMUN raises sponsorship to carry out projects within the camp. So far, AsriyyaMUN has built a library for the camp inhabitants, and continues to provide new books each year, refurbished the camp’s K.G. with carpets, tables, chairs, toys, stationery and decoration, built a rooftop garden for the females who use the camp’s Ladies Centre, raised the height of the wall around the K.G. for safety purposes and hosted orphans from the camp at’ iftars’ during Ramadan.
